Another overnight trip is planned - this time to Bear Valley ski resort and Yosemite. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Emily slept through the night again last night! This time from 11 p.m. to 5:45 a.m. Not quite as long as the night before but still great! We think it might be due to the way we're swaddling her.

Last night Emily did what new parents look forward to from the day their little one is born: she SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT! After a nightime snack at 10:30 p.m., she was asleep by 11 and slept until 6:30 a.m. Woo hoo! We hope she can make this a nightly occurance!

Merry Christmas! Emily enjoyed her very first overnight trip to Reno, NV for Christmas weekend with her parents. Eduardo joined us, too.
On Christmas Eve, her parents took turns skiing at Mt. Rose, near Lake Tahoe. Emily slept through the ski resort visit, clearly unimpressed that her mom was skiing exactly one month after giving birth!
Back in Reno, we ate well at casino buffets on both Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. On the way home, we stopped at Donner Memorial State Park for some fun and photos in the snow.

Emily is 4 weeks old today! She is getting better at holding her head up and focusing on objects and faces. Her favorite toy is still her bouncy seat but she is starting to like the playmat more and more.

Emily and Mom visited Mom's work and stayed for the holiday lunch. Emily slept through most of the visit which gave Mom a chance to catch up with everyone.
Kathy Khalik got a chance to hold Emily.

Today we visited little Audrey Arcadia Ruggles at the hospital. She was born December 16, 2006 and was 5 lbs, 6 oz and 18.5 inches. She was 5 weeks early so she needs lots of extra attention with keeping her warm and fed but she is doing well.

Emily is 3 weeks old today and I have finally updated the web site. Sometimes it feels like it's been 3 months but maybe that's because I've been awake for so much of the time. Actually, we're very lucky because she will sleep for 3 or 4 hours at a time. She usually only wakes up once each night for a quick feeding at around 3 a.m. Sometimes I take a nap with her during the daytime so I feel fairly rested considering I'm taking care of a newborn!
Emily likes eating, long naps and looking at faces. She likes lying on the couch with with her Daddy while he watches TV and she likes taking walks with her Mommy. She doesn't like sponge baths or being on her tummy.

Daddy goes back to work. Emily and Mommy are on their own!

We had our Meet Miss Emily Open House Party. Emily slept through most of the party but we had a great time catching up with our friends.
December 7, 2006
Emily had her 2-week check up and we learned that she weighs 8 pounds, 8 ounces. She is gaining weight well so we don't have to wake her up for feedings anymore. She can eat when she wants to - even if it's 4 hours between feedings.

Grandma and Grandpa fly home to NC. We will miss them but will see them again in February.

Day trip to San Francisco's Mission district, the Golden Gate Bridge and Muir Woods with Grandma and Grandpa.
December 2, 2006
Day trip to Monterey and Big Sur with Grandma and Grandpa. Emily did great until late in the afternoon when she got hungry and was tired of being in her car seat.

My mom and I took Emily to get her picture taken with Santa. She woke up just long enough to be photographed and then it was back to sleep. The girls working with Santa said Emily was the youngest baby they had visit with Santa! Thanks for the photo Grandma!
