See our February photos: North Carolina, Virginia, Connecticut

February 2007

Feb. 27

Flew home to California and Daddy. Once again, Emily did well on the flights. At SFO she was so happy to see her Daddy that she giggled for him.

Feb. 26

Snow Day! No School! Bethel, CT got about 4 inches of snow but that didn't stop us from driving home. The roads were fine and we didn't have any traffic. We got back to Jen's in 10 hours, including stops for gas and food. See all of our Connecticut photos.

Feb. 25

Our Meet Emily Part - Part 2. We had a great time catching up with family and friends who came from all over to visit us. Emily did well and smiled for everyone but the socializing wore her out after a while and she had to nap during the second half of her party.

Feb. 24

The rest of the family arrives at Ellen's including Stephanie, Amanda, Bettie, Kristin, and David. It's a full house!

Feb. 23

We visited Lisa, Emma and Johnny for lunch. The kids both enjoyed meeting Emily and Emma couldn't stop saying "Baby!" Johnny demonstrated how he walks across the kitchen in his special walker. Later, we visited Tara and Jeff for dinner and also got to catch up with Tara's parents and Jeff's mom.

Feb. 21

Grandma, Mom and Emily drive to Connecticut. It took all day and many stops. We left at 9:30 a.m. and finally arrived at Ellen's at 8:30 p.m. Emily did great though.

Feb. 20

Mom's real birthday! :-) See all of our Virginia photos.

Feb. 19

Daddy has to fly home.

Feb. 18

Grandma and Grandpa drive up from NC to celebrate Mom's birthday with lasagna and ice cream cake!

Feb. 17

Mom and Dad went out to dinner while Emily stayed home with Auntie Jen and Uncle Mike! Thanks!

Feb. 16

We visited with Jen and Mike and then babysat Zack and dogsat Rocket overnight while they went to a party in Baltimore. Zack was interested in Emily and seemed to be waiting for her to play with him. He helped out by bringing her toys to her when she fussed.

We did an outing with the kids to a Civil War museum in Richmond and did a short walk along the Canal. Emily slept a lot, as usual, and Zack was very well behaved!

Feb. 15

Drive to Jen's.

Feb. 14

Happy Valentine's Day! Today we all did a day long car trip to Kitty Hawk, NC where we saw the site of the Wright Brothers first flights. See our North Carolina photos.

Feb. 13

Rain, rain, rain. Having a quiet day at the cabin.

Feb. 12

We did a day trip to Raleigh with Grandma and Grandpa and visited the Museum of Science where I saw Emily giggle for the first time! Then we visited Duke University in Durham and saw its many impressive Gothic style buildings.

Feb. 11

We all drove up to Jen's to pick up Richard and to the airport to pick up our rental car and then had lunch back at Jen's house. Zack is getting more used to Emily and when she cried he tried to help out by handing her a bottle.

Feb. 10

Mom, Emily and I visited Halifax, NC where we took a tour of a historic house, tavern and prison. Richard arrived late on Saturday and stayed overnight at Jen's house.

Feb. 8

Mom, Emily and I met Jen and Zack in Petersburg, VA. We did a little shopping and had lunch at Lone Star where the food was good but the service was VERY slow. Not the best place to take a toddler but Zack did fine.

Feb. 7

We booked my parents' tickets to New Zealand. We're very excited that they are going to join us this time.

The temperatures are still very chilly here - highs in the 30's and lows in the 20's.

Feb. 6

Took a drive to see some of the small towns in the area and had lunch in Bracey.

More exciting though (at least for her parents), Emily rolled over from her belly to her back for the first time! She doesn't like being on her tummy much but I give her a little 'tummy time' every day anyway. This time she figured out she could use her arms and kick her legs to roll to her back where she was much happier.

Feb. 5

We went into town to do some shopping with Grandma at the Super Walmart. It's been very cold here today - today the high was 38°F - so we're not spending too much time outside.

Feb. 3

Emily met her older cousin Zack today. He came with Mike, Jen and Rocket to visit us at the my parents' place. While the grownups chatted, ate lunch and played scrabble, Zack played with his big Legos. He wasn't very interested in Emily since she couldn't help him build anything yet.

Feb. 2

Emily was a star traveler as we flew from San Francisco to Richmond, VA. She slept for the entire shorter flight and for about half of the longer one. While she was awake, she was full of smiles for our flight attendant and our neighbors across the aisle. This was great practice for our longer flight to New Zealand next month.

Feb. 1

Later...It looks like I can make text edits easily but photo uploading takes too long on the dialup connection in NC so photos will be added later.

Today we met Richard/Daddy for lunch and then spent the afternoon packing for Emily's first plane trip to the East Coast. We're hoping to avoid delays and other travel hassles tomorrow and we're also hoping that Emily enjoys the flight or at least doesn't cry a lot during it!

We'll leave you with some photos for now and we'll post again at the end of the month!
