East Coast Vacation

Here are the photos!

In late summer we did another family vacation filled with boating, watersports, a short trip to CT for Emily and Cindy and a child-free overnight trip to Charlottesville, VA for Richard and Cindy. We sure do know how to keep busy during vacation.

Even though I hadn't been on waterskis in a year, I was able to get up again with no problem. I even dropped a ski (on purpose!) and skied on one ski for a bit before losing my balance.

My parents' little pool was a bit hit with Emily and Zack. Emily loved floating around in a tube and Zack had a great time playing a pool version of baseball.

Emily Update

kiddiekandid Emily is 21 months now but I've sortof stopped counting the months. Instead I just say that she'll be 2 in November. Hard to believe that her 2nd birthday is just around the corner.

Some days it seems like the terrible twos are here already but most of the time she is a happy, good natured kid.

I thought she was talking a lot the last time I did an update but her vocabulary just grows and grows. She knows so many words that I can't keep track anymore. She repeats absolutely everything we say so we really have to be careful these days! She can usually communicate her thoughts and wishes well. One morning she woke up very early and I told her she needed to go back to sleep. She responded with: "No, nuff sleep. I get up now."

kiddie kandid 2She's very independent and determined and loves to do everything herself from putting her shoes on to brushing her teeth. But when she can't do something she knows she can ask one of us for help.

She continues to be a good traveler and I was very thankful for that during our most recent trip to the East Coast. She flew for free as a "lap infant" for the last time but she was able to have her own seat for 3 out of 4 flights that weren't fully booked. She loved wearing her seatbelt and keep herself entertained with a coloring book, crayons and puzzles.
