Wishing You a Merry Christmas!
It’s time for another Year-in-Review newsletter. It’s been a pretty good year for us. While our traveling decreased significantly, (as we expected now that Emily is a toddler) we still managed to do a couple of fun trips and more are in the pipeline. Here are some of the highlights of our year.

Caribbean Cruise and East Coast Trip
In April we had a visit to VA and NC to visit my family. We hung out with Emily’s cousins Ryan and Zack and spent time at my parents home. The following week we did a 7-day Western Caribbean cruise out of Ft. Miami, FL with several family members including my parents.
Highlights of the cruise included: Island tours on Grand Cayman and Roatan, Honduras; a day in Belize where we visited the Belize Zoo and Cozumel, Mexico where Emily and I enjoyed a day on the beach while Richard went diving. We enjoyed it so much that we’re looking forward to cruising again in 2009. Photos
East Coast Trip
In late August/early September, Emily and I spent 2 weeks on the east coast. The first week was spent in Connecticut where I caught up with friends and met Tara and Jeff’s daughter, Maggie, born in June.
Back in North Carolina, Richard joined us for the 2nd week of vacation where we enjoyed boating, waterskiing and tubing on the lake with the whole family.
Thanks to my parent’s babysitting offer, we also enjoyed a 2 night trip to Charlottesville, VA. Highlights of that trip were: driving and doing short hikes on the Blue Ridge Parkway, a visit to Thomas Jefferson’s home, Monticello, and a visit to the Walton’s Mountain Museum in Schuyler, VA. Photos
Emily Update
2008 was a big year for Emily. At the beginning of the year, she was still learning to walk and now we have to walk very fast to keep up with her when she runs away from us! She also loves to climb and jump although she does manage to sit still when it’s time to read books at bedtime. Her vocabulary has increased so much that it’s no longer possible to keep track of all the words she says and understands. At the beginning of the year, she could say a few words and now she talks in full sentences, asks lots of questions, says what she wants and explains what’s happening around all her. Her favorite character is Dora the Explorer and she loves all things Dora!
Baby Boy in 2009
We are happy to announce that we are expecting a baby boy in May 2009. Emily has been told that there is a “baby in Mommy’s belly” but doesn’t really understand what that means for her quite yet. It will a huge adjustment for all of us but we think she’ll love being a big sister.
